U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude to King Mohammed VI after the Moroccan monarch named the Tiznit–Dakhla Expressway in his honor. Trump described the gesture as “a great honor” and said he looks forward to visiting Morocco and traveling along the strategic highway.
In a post published on his official Truth Social account, Trump wrote: “Thank you to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, for this great honor. I look forward to traveling the entire length of this great highway someday, hopefully very soon.”
Trump’s reaction came after the Tiznit–Dakhla Expressway, one of Morocco’s largest road infrastructure projects, was named after the U.S. president. The move reflects the strength of Moroccan-American relations and recalls the United States’ recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
The Tiznit–Dakhla Expressway is a strategic infrastructure project linking the northern part of Morocco’s southern provinces with the city of Dakhla. It serves as a key driver for road connectivity, economic development, and logistics across the southern regions of the Kingdom.
