The Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) has taken a new step in its strategy to expand its presence in international financial markets by publishing its credit ratings issued by the world’s two leading rating agencies: Moody’s Ratings and S&P Global Ratings.
According to a company statement, Moody’s assigned TMPA a final Baa3 long-term rating with a stable outlook. The agency had also assigned the company a Scorecard-Indicated Outcome of Baa1 at the end of 2025.
Meanwhile, S&P Global Ratings assigned TMPA a final BBB- rating with a stable outlook. It also awarded the company a Stand-Alone Credit Profile (SACP) of bbb, one notch above Morocco’s sovereign credit rating.
Both agencies highlighted several structural strengths of TMPA, including its strategic geographic location at the crossroads of major global shipping routes, its leading position in the Western Mediterranean transshipment market, and its portfolio of world-class customers such as A.P. Moller-Maersk, CMA CGM, and Hapag-Lloyd, operating under long-term concession agreements.
The reports also emphasize TMPA’s pricing flexibility, commercial resilience in adapting to changes in global maritime trade, and its strategic role in strengthening Morocco’s integration into international markets.
TMPA began its international credit rating process more than four years ago. The publication of these ratings reflects the company’s commitment to the highest standards of financial transparency and corporate governance, while enhancing its credibility with international investors to support future development projects.
A subsidiary of the Tanger Med Special Agency, TMPA S.A. is responsible for the commissioning and operation of Tanger Med 1, the Passenger and Ro-Ro Port, and Tanger Med 2.
