The Saudi Supreme Court announced that Monday will mark the first day of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH. Accordingly, the Day of Arafat will fall on Tuesday, May 26, while Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on the following Wednesday.
The announcement came in a statement issued by the Supreme Court on Sunday evening, following a session held by the moon-sighting committee to review reports regarding the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent for the year 1447 AH. After receiving testimonies from several credible witnesses confirming the sighting, the Court declared Monday, May 18, as the first day of the month.
