According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona are facing growing concern after their young star Lamine Yamal picked up an injury during the recent match against RC Celta de Vigo in the Spanish league.
Yamal was forced off in the 40th minute, just after scoring the opening goal from a penalty he had won himself, after feeling pain in his left hamstring. Initial indications suggest a possible muscle tear, pending further medical tests to determine the exact severity.
The same source reports that if the injury is confirmed, the player could miss the remainder of the LaLiga season, while also casting doubt over his availability for upcoming international competitions, including the World Cup.
Barcelona’s problems were not limited to Yamal, as defender João Cancelo also left the pitch early due to injury, adding to the team’s difficulties.
The player is expected to undergo further examinations to clarify the nature of the injury and the expected recovery time, as the club’s technical and medical staff hope to avoid the worst-case scenario.
