Police services in the city of Tetouan, acting on precise intelligence provided by the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested on Wednesday a 26-year-old supporter of the terrorist organization “ISIS,” who was in the advanced stages of preparing an imminent and highly dangerous terror plot aimed at seriously undermining public order.
According to a statement issued by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), the security operation led to the seizure of a large-bladed weapon in the suspect’s possession, which he intended to use to carry out his terrorist plans. The individual had also drawn attention by sharing extremist content online, including videos and materials glorifying ISIS terrorist acts.
The search operation carried out at his residence also resulted in the discovery of a flag symbolizing the terrorist organization, the same source added.
The suspect was placed in police custody at the BCIJ headquarters under the supervision of the public prosecutor in charge of terrorism cases, in order to deepen the investigation, identify all terrorist projects linked to him, and verify his possible connections inside and outside Morocco.
This case once again highlights the continued rise of terrorist threats targeting the Kingdom.
