The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas announced on Friday that it has delivered its official response to mediators regarding the proposal presented by U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at halting the war on the Gaza Strip, initiating a prisoner exchange, and addressing the humanitarian and political situation in the enclave.
In its official statement, Hamas said it had conducted in-depth consultations within its leadership institutions, along with extensive discussions with Palestinian factions, mediators, and friendly parties, before reaching its final decision on the American proposal.
Approval of Prisoner Exchange
Hamas affirmed that it “values the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as those of the U.S. President, aimed at stopping the war on Gaza and rejecting both the displacement of the Palestinian people and the occupation of the Strip.”
The movement declared its approval to release all Israeli captives, both living and the remains of the deceased, according to the exchange formula included in Trump’s proposal.
It further expressed its readiness to immediately enter negotiations through mediators to discuss the operational details of the exchange process.
Administration of the Gaza Strip
Hamas also reiterated its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats), formed on the basis of national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic countries, stressing that this step aims to safeguard Palestinian unity and alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population.
Future of Gaza
The movement emphasized that other issues outlined in Trump’s proposal, relating to the future of Gaza and the broader Palestinian rights, are tied to a collective Palestinian national position. These matters, it said, will be discussed within a unified Palestinian framework that includes all factions, and will be based on relevant international laws and resolutions.
Commitment to Principles
Hamas concluded its statement by affirming that its decision stems from a sense of national responsibility and the urgent need to end the Israeli aggression on Gaza while protecting the core rights and principles of the Palestinian people. The movement reiterated its readiness to contribute “with full responsibility” to any national framework that advances the aspirations of Palestinians.
