The 14th annual edition of the international “Atlantic Dialogues” conference opened today, Thursday, in Rabat. The event is organized by the Policy Center for the New South, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and is held at the Center’s headquarters within Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.
The opening session was attended by André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King, along with high-level Moroccan and international figures, diplomats, researchers, and experts representing global think tanks and the private sector.
Analyzing Global Crises and Proposing Innovative Solutions
Running from 11 to 13 December, the conference builds on the 2024 edition, which expanded discussions into a multidisciplinary platform. This year’s sessions focus on analyzing political and economic transformations while proposing reform-oriented approaches that match the complexity of current global dynamics.
In his opening remarks, Karim El Aynaoui, President of the Policy Center for the New South, emphasized that the event seeks to offer an open and constructive space for dialogue, aligned with the Royal vision of fostering shared thinking and the exchange of expertise. He noted that the Atlantic Dialogues have evolved from an annual meeting into a “culture of structured and thoughtful debate.”
El Aynaoui added that hosting the conference at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University reflects the Center’s commitment to building a strong knowledge ecosystem and linking academic research with public policy.

The conference features nine main plenary sessions and twenty small-group workshops tackling political, economic, and geopolitical transformations across the Atlantic space. Topics include:
North–South relations
The future of multilateralism and regional blocs
Emerging geopolitical challenges
The strategic role of global maritime corridors
Protection of marine ecosystems
The ability of democracies to deliver in times of rising uncertainty
The conference continues to strengthen its status as a forum that brings together representatives from the four continents bordering the Atlantic, aiming to deepen understanding of global shifts and highlight the growing strategic importance of the Global South Atlantic.
Launch of the “Atlantic Currents” Report and Youth Leadership Program
The opening also included the presentation of the 12th edition of the “Atlantic Currents” report, published annually since 2014 as a key reference for analyzing major trends within the Atlantic basin.
In parallel, the Policy Center for the New South launched the 12th cohort of the Atlantic Dialogues Emerging Leaders Program, which benefits around forty young professionals aged 25–35 from across the Atlantic region, with the goal of preparing a new generation of leaders capable of addressing global challenges.
