Manchester United earned a precious victory over archrivals Liverpool with a 2–1 win in their Premier League clash today, Sunday, as part of Matchday 9 of the English Premier League.
United struck early through Bryan Mbeumo, who found the net in just the 2nd minute after capitalizing on a defensive error from Liverpool. Later, captain Harry Maguire doubled the lead in the 84th minute to give the Red Devils a comfortable advantage.
Liverpool tried to fight back and managed to reduce the deficit thanks to Cody Gakpo’s goal in the 78th minute, but their late efforts were denied by United’s solid defense and the brilliant saves of goalkeeper André Onana, who secured the win for the visitors until the final whistle.
With this important win, Manchester United continue their resurgence in the league, while Liverpool suffer a disappointing home defeat at Anfield against their historic rivals.
