
/ The Director General of the National Police and the General Directorate for National Territory Surveillance, Abdel Latif Hammouchi, carried out a working visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna, on May 6 and 7, 2025, at the head of a security delegation representing the National Police and the National Territory Surveillance.
According to a statement from the Directorate, this visit took place within the framework of the participation of the delegation from the National Police and the Directorate for National Territory Surveillance in the 22nd Regional Meeting of Heads of Intelligence and Security Agencies from the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Turkey and Pakistan, organized by the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team of the United Nations at the Vienna International Centre.
The statement added that the participation of the Director General of the National Police and the Directorate for National Territory Surveillance in this multilateral security forum reflects Morocco’s commitment to strengthening regional and international security cooperation, as well as its firm desire to share its expertise and pioneering experience in combating terrorism and transnational crime with friendly and allied countries, as well as international partners.
The source further indicated that discussions held during this meeting addressed the developments in leadership structures of the “ISIS” and “Al-Qaeda” organizations in light of the loss of traditional strongholds, as well as the growth of regional branches and new provinces. The discussions also covered the overall assessment of the threats and risks posed by these organizations at the regional and international levels, in the short, medium, and long term.
These discussions also reviewed new trends related to financial resources, weapons, and logistical equipment used by “ISIS” and “Al-Qaeda,” including mechanisms for hiding and encrypting funds, as well as monitoring updates to the propaganda, media strategy, and organizational communication methods within these terrorist organizations.
In parallel with the multilateral cooperation activities, the Director General of the National Police and the Directorate for National Territory Surveillance conducted intensive talks in the context of bilateral security cooperation with heads of delegations from security and intelligence agencies from several participating friendly countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and the United Arab Emirates.
These bilateral discussions addressed various security challenges and threats that require strengthening joint efforts to counter and neutralize their risks. They also focused on ways to enhance security and intelligence cooperation to ensure the protection of security and the preservation of stability.
The statement noted that this visit reaffirms Morocco’s distinguished position and active role in international security cooperation, as well as the credibility of Moroccan security services among their regional and international partners as a key player in joint efforts to safeguard global security and stability.
